photochemical drift

Photochemical Drift is a series of experiments with cyanotype, an early photographic process based on the reaction of two chemical compounds to light: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide.

By altering the proportions of the mixture or introducing other elements, such as water, salt, vinegar, or baking soda, I explore the unpredictable reactions of this chemistry. The blue pigments spread, flow, fade, and transform, revealing traces, textures, and abstract forms.

I work primarily with textiles, whose flexibility and absorbency play an integral role in these transformations. Sometimes, I extend these processes through embroidery or the addition of pins, bringing chemical reactions into dialogue with more precise and intentional gestures.
